MOS 63T Bradley Fighting Vehicle System Mechanic

The Bradley fighting vehicle system (BFVS) mechanic supervises and performs unit maintenance on, and recovery operations of the improved tow vehicle (ITV), infantry fighting vehicle (IFV), cavalry fighting vehicle (CFV), fire support vehicle (FISTV), multiple launch rocket system (MLRS), and the 113 family of light armored vehicles, including the automotive, turret, fire control, and chemical protection systems. Duties for MOS 63T at each skill level are:

a. Major duties.

(1) MOSC 63T1O. Maintains (inspects/troubleshoots/replaces/repairs/ adjusts/performs preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS)) diesel power plants/packs/units, compression engines, wheel vehicle clutch assemblies, compression ignition engine fuel systems, compression ignition air induction systems, vehicle exhaust/liquid cooling systems, vehicle starting/charging systems, track vehicle hull electrical systems, standard/automatic transmission assemblies, crossdrive transmission assemblies, auxiliary drive assemblies, propeller shaft assemblies, air/hydraulic brake system, mechanical brake systems, track/wheel vehicle suspension systems, vehicle wheel/hub assemblies, mechanical/hydraulic steering systems, controlled differential steering systems, track vehicle hydraulic assemblies, auxiliary power units, wheel vehicle winch assemblies, fire extinguisher/suppression systems, and gas particulate filter systems.

(2) MOSC 63T2O. Performs duties in preceding skill level, supervises lower grade soldiers and provides technical guidance to the soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties.

(3) MOSC 63T3O. Performs duties in preceding skill levels, perform and supervise Bradley fighting vehicle system turret mechanic (MOS 45T) duties, supervises lower rank soldiers and provides technical guidance to the soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties. Inspects and troubleshoots: M113 series vehicle automotive systems vehicle automotive systems, Bradley fighting vehicle systems (M2/M3) series automotive/armament systems, recovery vehicle (M578) automotive systems, recovery vehicle (M88A1) automotive systems, and light-wheel vehicle automotive systems. Performs battle field damage assessment and repair (BDAR) of track/wheel vehicle armament/automotive systems.

(4) MOSC 63T4O. Performs duties in preceding skill levels, supervises lower grade soldiers and provides technical guidance to the soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties.

b. Physical demands rating and qualifications for initial award of MOS.

Bradley fighting vehicle system mechanics must possess the following qualifications:

(1) A physical demands rating of very heavy.
(2) A physical profile of 222222.
(3) Normal color vision.
(4) A minimum score of 105 in aptitude area MM.
(5) Current equipment qualification record for all types of equipment maintained.
(6) Formal training (completion of MOS 63T course conducted under the auspices of the USA Ordnance Center and School) mandatory.

c. Additional skill identifiers.

(1) H8-Recovery Operations.
(2) P5-Master Fitness Trainer.
(3) 2S-Battle Staff Operations (skill level 3 and above).
(4) 4A-Reclassification Training.

d. Physical requirements and standards of grade.
