MOS 35W Electronic Maintenance Chief

The electronics maintenance chief supervises, monitors, and directs the electronics maintenance mission of the U.S. Army, and oversees and performs direct and general support (DS/GS) level maintenance of all Army standard electronics equipment, systems, and associated devices, to include communications security (COMSEC) and controlled cryptographic items (CCI) devices. Duties for MOS 35W at each level of skill are:

a. Major duties.

(1) MOSC 35W4O. Develops and implements unit level electronic maintenance programs. Develops and enforces policy and procedures for facility management. Organizes work schedules and instructs subordinate personnel in the technical maintenance of field communications and electronics equipment and systems, and associated devices. Ensures repair of COMSEC devices complies with published security requirements. Provides advice and technical assistance to commanders. Requests logistic support; assimilates and prepares reports and maintenance statistics.

(2) MOSC 35W5O. Interprets Army maintenance policy and writes technical and operational procedures used in command electronic maintenance operations. Serves as material management staff noncommissioned officer in field and garrison electronic maintenance operations. Inspects assigned electronic maintenance activities for compliance with repair priorities, quality control, and shop practices. Advises commander and staff on all aspects of electronic maintenance operations.

b. Physical demands rating and qualifications for initial award of MOS.

Electronic maintenance chief must possess the following qualifications:

(1) Physical demands rating-N/A.
(2) A physical profile of 222221.
(3) Normal color vision.
(4) A minimum score in aptitude area-N/A.
(5) A security clearance of SECRET.
(6) A U.S. citizen.
(7) Formal training (completion of CMF 35 Advanced NCO Course conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army Ordnance Missile and Munitions School) mandatory; or waiver may be granted by Commandant, USAOMMCS, Redstone Arsenal, AL 35897- 6090.

c. Additional skill identifiers.

(1) P5-Master Fitness Trainer.
(2) Y5-TEMPEST Inspection.
(3) 2S-Battle Staff Operations (skill level 4 and above).
(4) 4A-Reclassification Training.

d. Physical requirements and standards of grade.
