MOS 51R Interior Electrician
The interior electrician supervises or performs installation and maintenance of interior electrical systems and equipment. Duties for MOS 51R at each level of skill are:
a. Major duties.
(1) MOSC 51R1O. Installs and maintains interior electrical systems up to 600 volts. Reads and interprets drawings, plans, and specifications. Installs service panels, switches and electrical boxes. Installs metallic and nonmetallic sheathed cable, conduit and special electrical equipment. Installs service drop. Uses test equipment to test operational condition of circuits. Assists in performance of combat engineer missions.
(2) MOSC 51R2O. Supervises installation and maintenance of interior electrical systems. Plans electrical system layout using drawings, plans, specifications, and wiring diagrams. Coordinates construction planning and advises on electrical construction. Uses test equipment to isolate malfunctions and repairs defects in systems and components. Inspects interior electrical systems/components for proper installation in accordance with National Electrical Code and local ordinances.
b. Physical demands rating and qualifications for initial award of MOS.
Interior electricians must possess the following qualifications:
(1) A physical demands rating of heavy.
(2) A physical profile of 111221.
(3) Normal color vision.
(4) A minimum score of 95 in aptitude area EL.
(5) Formal training (completion of MOS 51R course conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army Engineer School) mandatory or meet civilian acquired skills criteria listed in AR 601-210.
(6) No record of acrophobia or claustrophobia.
c. Additional skill identifiers.
(1) P5-Master Fitness Trainer.
(2) 4A-Reclassification Training.
d. Physical requirements and standards of grade.
