MOS 52E Prime Power Production Specialist

The prime power production specialist supervises, operates, installs and maintains electric power plant and associated auxiliary systems and equipment. Duties for MOS 52E at each level of skill are:

a. Major duties.

(1) MOSC 52E2O. Operates and maintains electrical power plants. Performs mechanical, electrical and instrumentation functions necessary to install and prepare power station equipment for initial startup. Analyzes plant equipment and system operating characteristics to determine operational condition. Repairs or overhauls generating equipment and associated systems components.

(2) MOSC 52E3O. Supervises the installation, operation or maintenance of prime power plants and associated systems and equipment. Directs preparation of power plant equipment for movement, storage and installation. Serves as technical inspector to determine faulty operation/maintenance practices. Determines and isolates complex malfunctions, utilizing diagnostic tests, and troubleshooting techniques. Determines repair/overhaul required, cost effectiveness, and method of accomplishment for power plant equipment and associated systems.

(3) MOSC 52E4O. Supervises the installation, operation, unit and direct support maintenance of electrical power plants. Coordinates, plans, and schedules team activities. Plans for the use, movement, and siting of electrical power plants. Estimates manpower, equipment and material necessary to accomplish installation of power station and construction of associated systems. Advises subordinate personnel on prime power equipment use, siting, operation and maintenance.

b. Physical demands rating and qualifications for initial award of MOS.

Prime power production specialists must possess the following qualifications:

(1) Physical demands rating-N/A.
(2) A physical profile of 222121.
(3) Normal color vision.
(4) A minimum score of 110 in aptitude area ST.
(5) A security clearance of SECRET.
(6) Medical fitness standards per AR 40-501.
(7) Required formal training.
(8) A U.S. citizen.

c. Additional skill identifiers.

(1) E5-Instrument Maintenance (Power Station).
(2) P5-Master Fitness Trainer.
(3) S2-Mechanical Equipment Maintenance (Power Station).
(4) S3-Electrical Equipment Maintenance (Power Station).
(5) U4-Power Line Distribution.
(6) 2S-Battle Staff Operations (skill level 3 and above).
(7) 4A-Reclassification Training.

d. Physical requirements and standards of grade.
