MOS 35C Surveillance Radar Repairer
The surveillance radar repairer performs or supervises direct and general support (DS/GS) level maintenance on ground surveillance radars and associated equipment. MOS 35C personnel also perform DS/GS and depot level maintenance on meteorological equipment. Duties for MOS 35C at each level of skill are:
a. Major duties.
(1) MOSC 35C1O. Inspects equipment for faults and completeness. Tests equipment to determine operational condition. Troubleshoots to determine location and extent of equipment faults. Repairs equipment by adjusting, aligning, repairing, or replacing defective components. Tests repaired items to ensure compliance with technical specifications. Prepares appropriate maintenance forms and records. Performs unit level maintenance on tools and test equipment. Performs preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS) on tools, test equipment, test, measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE), vehicles, and power generators.
(2) MOSC 35C2O. Performs maintenance duties that are more complex and beyond the scope and experience of those performed by the skill level one repairer. Provides technical assistance to both subordinates and supported users. Performs quality control tests on repaired equipment. Requests and maintains authorized bench stock of repair parts, supplies, and technical publications.
(3) MOSC 35C3O. Assigns specific duties to subordinate personnel. Establishes workload, work schedules, and repair priorities. Performs and supervises quality control inspections. Coordinates logistical support. Establishes and supervises on the job technical instructional programs for subordinate personnel. Provides technical information and assistance to supported units. Advises and makes recommendations concerning equipment repair and status to superiors. Prepares, reviews, and consolidates technical and administrative reports and requests. Evacuates equipment to higher level repair organizations.
b. Physical demands rating and qualifications for initial award of MOS.
Surveillance radar repairer must possess the following qualifications:
(1) A physical demands rating of heavy.
(2) A physical profile of 111221.
(3) Normal color vision.
(4) A minimum score of 115 in aptitude area EL.
(5) A security clearance of SECRET.
(6) Successful completion of one year of high school algebra and general science.
(7) A U.S. citizen.
(8) Formal training (completion of MOS 35C Course conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army Ordnance Missile and Munitions School) mandatory; or waiver may be granted by Commandant, USAOMMCS, Redstone Arsenal, AL 35897-6090; or meet the civilian acquired skills criteria listed in AR 601-210.
c. Additional skill identifiers.
(1) P5-Master Fitness Trainer.
(2) 2S-Battle Staff Operations (skill level 3 only).
(3) 4A-Reclassification Training.
d. Physical requirements and standards of grade.
