MOS 35J Telecommunication Terminal Device
The telecommunications terminal device repairer performs or supervises direct and general support (DS/GS) level maintenance of microcomputers and electro-mechanical telecommunications terminal equipment, facsimile machines, Field Artillery (FA) digital devices, and other associated equipment and devices. Duties for MOS 35J at each skill level are:
a. Major duties.
(1) MOSC 35J1O. Troubleshoots microcomputers electro-mechanical telecommunications terminal equipment, facsimile machines, FA digital devices, and associated equipment using built-in test equipment (BITE), Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE), schematics, and signal flowcharts in technical publications to determine the cause and location of faults, and repairs required. Repairs assemblies, subassemblies and components by disassembling, adjusting, aligning, repairing or replacing faulty shop replaceable units (SRU), cables, wiring, and associated hardware. Tests repaired equipment to ensure operability and compliance with technical specifications. Maintains selected commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) computers.
(2) MOSC 35J2O. Prepares and processes maintenance supply requests and work orders. Performs initial and final inspection of repaired equipment. Provides technical assistance to subordinates and performs complex maintenance tasks. Interprets circuit diagrams, schematics, software diagnostics and other technical literature pertaining to repair functions. Requests replenishment of bench stock.
(3) MOSC 35J3O. Establishes workload, work schedules, and repair priorities. Provides technical assistance and teaches subordinates technical skills. Assigns specific duties to supporting forward deployed maintenance teams. Coordinates logistical support and advises superiors on maintenance status of in-shop equipment. Prepares maintenance reports and writes MOS technical portion of maintenance shop operating procedures. Coordinates and prepares paperwork, as necessary, to procure repair parts for microcomputers from commercial vendors.
b. Physical demands rating and qualifications for initial award of MOS.
Telecommunications terminal device repairer must possess the following qualifications:
(1) A physical demands rating of heavy.
(2) A physical profile of 111221.
(3) Normal color vision.
(4) A minimum score of 110 in aptitude area EL.
(5) A security clearance of SECRET.
(6) High school graduate or equivalent.
(7) Successful completion of one year of high school algebra and general science.
(8) A U.S citizen.
(9) Formal training (completion of MOS 35J Course conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army Ordnance Missile and Munitions School) mandatory; or waiver may be granted by Commandant, USAOMMCS, Redstone Arsenal, AL 35897-6090.
c. Additional skill identifiers.
(1) A7-Tactical Fire Direction (TACFIRE) Systems Maintenance.
(2) P5-Master Fitness Trainer.
(3) 2S-Battle Staff Operations (skill level 3 and above only).
(4) 4A-Reclassification Training.
d. Physical requirements and standards of grade.
