MOS 24M VULCAN System Mechanic
The VULCAN system mechanic supervises and performs unit level maintenance on the VULCAN weapon system and associated equipment. Duties for MOS 24M at each skill level are:
a. Major duties.
(1) MOSC 24M1O. Performs unit level maintenance on the VULCAN weapon system, range-only radar, and associated equipment. Troubleshoots, performs scheduled maintenance, checks, tests, adjusts, and isolates malfunctions on components of the VULCAN weapon system and associated subsystems. Performs maintenance on unit test, measurement, and diagnostics equipment.
(2) MOSC 24M2O. Performs duties in preceding skill level, supervises lower grade soldiers and provides technical guidance to the soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties. Initiates requests for repair parts. Provides technical assistance and guidance in the conduct of operational and maintenance inspections.
(3) MOSC 24M3O. Performs duties in preceding skill levels, supervises lower grade soldiers and provides technical guidance to the soldiers in theaccomplishment of their duties. Supervises the training of maintenance personnel. Instructs maintenance personnel in maintenance procedures and troubleshooting techniques. Maintains forms for scheduled maintenance of VULCAN system and test equipment.
(4) MOSC 24M4O. Performs duties in preceding skill levels, supervises lower grade soldiers and provides technical guidance to the soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties. Establishes maintenance procedures. Conducts technical inspections on VULCAN weapon system and associated equipment. Coordinates maintenance activities with supporting units. Supervises the requisitioning and stockage of supplies and repair parts.
b. Physical demands rating and qualifications for initial award of MOS.
VULCAN system mechanics must possess the following qualifications:
(1) A physical demands rating of very heavy.
(2) A physical profile of 222221.
(3) Normal color vision.
(4) A minimum score of 110 in aptitude area EL.
(5) A security clearance of CONFIDENTIAL.
(6) Mandatory formal training (or waiver issued by Commandant, USAADS, Fort Bliss, TX 79916).
(7) A U.S. citizen.
c. Additional skill identifiers.
(1) P5-Master Fitness Trainer.
(2) 2S-Battle Staff Operations (skill level 3 and above).
(3) 4A-Reclassification Training.
d. Physical requirements and standards of grade.
